Recognition starts here
Photos
A good, face-on photo gives flAIr and the community their best chance of recognizing your pet.
The face first
The very first photo should show the pet's face, as front-facing as possible. That is what flAIr analyzes for recognition, and it is the first thing the community looks at. If you only have one photo, choose the one of the face.
What is it?
Depending on your plan, you add 1 to 4 photos to your listing. The first one is the star: it appears everywhere, on the listing, on the poster and on social media. The others show the pet from other angles.
Why the face-on photo matters
flAIr compares the face, the ears, the muzzle, the eyes and the coat pattern. The more front-facing, sharp and well-lit the photo is, the more reliable recognition becomes. A blurry or distant photo lowers your chances.
How to take a good photo
- 1
The face, front-on
Get down to the pet's level, right in front of it.
- 2
Good lighting
Daylight is ideal. The details and true colours should be visible.
- 3
Close enough
The face fills a good part of the frame, without being cut off.
- 4
Eyes visible
No glare and no shadow across the face.
- 5
A recent photo
The pet should look like it does today.
The extra photos
With plans that offer more than one photo, use them for wider views: the full body, a side profile, or a distinctive mark such as a patch, a scar or a collar.
What to avoid
- Blurry or too-dark photos.
- Photos taken from too far away.
- Filters and costumes.
- Group photos where you can't tell which one it is.
Which plan includes it?
1 photo on Free, 2 on Local alert, 3 on Regional alert, 4 on Province-wide alert.
